Brown University

Brown University, located in urban Providence, R.I., is the only major research university in the nation where undergraduates create their own course of study. This private institution, founded in 1764, has a college-town feel with a center for shopping and dining. The Brown Bears have many NCAA Division I athletic teams (well-known for men’s soccer) and compete in the Ivy League. Cornell University, located in Ithaca, N.Y., has 14 schools that each admit their own students and provide their own faculty.
